The whole point of the Pope’s statement about Islam, is that it is time for dialogue to replace violence and rational discussion to eliminate forced conversion. So what is the response? Churches burned, a nun killed, thousands demonstrating, calls for violence, threats made against the Pope and the Vatican, and a challenge for even more and greater reactions from the head Ayatollah of Iran.
Al Qaida in Iraq issued the following statement:
“You and the West are doomed,…You infidels and despots, we will continue our jihad (holy war) and never stop until God avails us to chop your necks and raise the fluttering banner of monotheism, when God’s rule is established governing all people and nations.”
Also, Ansar al-Sunna, another group of Islamic extremists in Iraq, called for:
“sleeping Muslims” to prove their manhood by doing something other than “issuing statements or holding demonstrations.”
Well, it sure sounds like a ‘religion of peace’ to me, right?
