President Obama made the following statement while preparing to sign an executive order providing federal funds for embryonic stem cell research:

“Our government has forced what I believe is a false choice between sound science and moral values. …It is about ensuring that scientific data is never distorted or concealed to serve a political agenda- and that we make scientific decisions based on facts, not ideology.”

But who is really following science in this case? All of the real progress in the last several years has been made through use of adult stem cells which do not require the destruction and killing of embryos. Private money has poured into adult stem cell research because of the potential.

Meanwhile, embryonic stem cell research which has continued through public funding in the UK and the state of California has seen one failure after another. If this line of research showed as much potential, money from the private sector would be heavily invested.

Notwithstanding, Pres. Obama and his pro-abort friends insist that in the midst of a major recession that federal money be spent on the losing side and then have the audacity to claim the scientific high ground?

Who is really following science in this case and who is pushing a political agenda? Is it just me or is anyone else out there already tired of Pres. Obama’s sanctimonious proclamations?
