Sheikh Faisal Aqtab Siddiqi, has legally set up Sharia courts in the UK under the guise and classification of ‘arbitration tribunals’ using a clause in the Arbitration Act 1996. So far, the Muslim Sharia court system is legally recognized and functioning in London, Birmingham, Bradford and Manchester with headquarters in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. Two more sharia courts are currently being set up in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
In this court system, the lawyers use only Sharia law to legally decide all disputes. English law is ignored and yet the decisions are legally binding.
There are lots of protests to the new Sharia judicial system, most believe that the UK should have one set of laws and courts for everyone.
Response: This is really shocking. If this stands and continues, it really could be the beginning of the end for Britain as we now know it. The UK is still nominally a ‘Christian’ nation, but with the recognition of Sharia, it brings with it a new legal and official status for Islam–way beyond mere ‘freedom of religion’.
The introduction of a parallel legal system could doom the UK to face a future with major legal divisions in society, religion, culture, and people–divisions that might result in full-on Civil unrest or even terrorism on the level that the Israelis now face from within, with the Palestinians in their midst.
