In an effort to decrease the possibility of radical religious books flooding and affecting the US federal prison population, the Bush administration has instituted a policy that allows only 150 ‘approved’ books for each religion in the prison libraries. In the mean time, prison officials are culling through their books and throwing out any of the many good books which are not on the prescribed list. The administration was particularly concerned that the prisons were becoming recruitment centers for radical Islam.
Comments: It is really outrageous that the administration is coming up with an ‘approved list’. Who are the folks that came up with this list anyway? If they are concerned with the rise of militant Islam in our prisons, then they should only eliminate those books which support that offending view and propaganda. Why throw out thousands of good Christian life changing books in the process?
