: A number of clergy in Church of England have taken it upon themselves to change the words of traditional carols in order to be more ‘modern’ and ‘inclusive’–or politically correct.

For example, one church changed the traditional refrain of O Come All Ye Faithful – “O come let us adore Him” – to “O come in adoration”, another church reportedly modified a line in Hark the Herald Angels Sing in which usually reads- “Glory to the newborn King” and replaced it with-  “Glory to the Christ child, bring”.

Both of the changes above were made because the traditional words were considered by some clergy to be sexist?  However, as even a child could point out Jesus was a boy baby after all.

Another cleric reportedly removed the word ‘virgin’ from God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen– apparently that pastor doesn’t believe in the virgin birth.

Then there is the report of the clergyman who rewrote the words to the Twelve Days of Christmas to include Aids victims, drug addicts, and hoods. A real attempt to be more inclusive indeed!

Finally, one vicar banned his congregation from singing O Little Town of Bethlehem because the words don’t reflect the current suffering endured by modern Palestinians now residing in the birthplace of Jesus.

Response: Another example of the current war on Christmas–but this time inside the church itself–incredible! The clergy in this case are actually a ‘Fifth Column’- as one commenter pointed out.
