The newly elected first President of the European Union, Belgian Prime Minister Herman Van Rompuy, proclaimed in his acceptance speech that a new “global governance” is only way to solve the current crises facing the world:
“We’re living through exceptionally difficult times – the financial crisis and its dramatic impact on employment and budgets, the climate crisis which threatens our very survival, a period of anxiety, uncertainty and lack of confidence.
Yet these problems can be overcome through a joint effort between our countries. Two-thousand and nine is also the first year of global governance with the establishment of the G20 in the middle of the financial crisis. The climate conference in Copenhagen is another step toward the global management of our planet.”
Response: Last year a number of nations meet in China at the beginning of the current financial crisis and called for a New World Economic order along with a new world currency. Now the new EU President says that a new World government should be the goal for addressing current world problems.
This type of language raises red flags for many Christians who see the rise of the new European Union Presidency and the call for a ‘New World Government’ as the possible beginning of an ‘end-time’ scenario.
The rise of a World leader who brings peace in the Middle East and resolves the Israel/Palestinian riddle is another piece of the puzzle that Bible students will be looking for along with the establishment of a new world economic system and the rise of one dominant world religion to complete the picture.
Only time will tell if we are really seeing the fulfillment of Bible prophecy in the making.
Even if you aren’t concerned about Bible prophecy, the rise of a dominant controlling one world all encompassing system should cause anyone who loves freedom to be concerned.
