-Praying the Proverbs 13:1-12

by Dr. D ~ May 7th, 2021

13 A wise son heareth his father’s instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.

2 A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.

3 He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

4 The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.

5 A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.

6 Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.

7 There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.

8 The ransom of a man’s life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.

9 The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.

10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.

11 Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labor shall increase.

12 Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. (KJV)

Our Father,

We pray for help through your Holy Spirit to hear and follow through with your instructions and teaching. Through your Son Jesus your have adopted us into your family and we are thankful for the way you care for us.

We seek the way of righteousness that we may be blameless in your sight through faith in your Son Jesus. Father, you only want what is best for us but the ‘father of lies’- the Devil, only wants the worst. By your Spirit and counsel let us always seek the truth and reject the lies of the enemy. Let us always spread the truth and never lies or exaggerations; let our word always be our bond and grounded daily in your Word through your Holy Spirit.

Thank you for your light and truth that brings us only joy and abundance in this life and the life to come. You have filled us with hope and that hope is fulfilled in all eternity through faith in your Son Jesus who is our Tree of Life. Thank you Father for sending your Son as a sacrifice for us and as a fulfillment for every hope and desire that we could ever have. Thank you for your continual presence in our lives which brings us joy and hope regardless of what is happening. Praise you name and thank you Father.

In Jesus Name, Amen.
