-Praying Psalm 119:169-176

by Dr. D ~ November 13th, 2015

169 Let my cry come before you, O Lord;
give me understanding according to your word!
170 Let my plea come before you;
deliver me according to your word.
171 My lips will pour forth praise,
for you teach me your statutes.
172 My tongue will sing of your word,
for all your commandments are right.
173 Let your hand be ready to help me,
for I have chosen your precepts.
174 I long for your salvation, O Lord,
and your law is my delight.
175 Let my soul live and praise you,
and let your rules help me.
176 I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek your servant,
for I do not forget your commandments.  (ESV)

Psalm 119 is an acrostic poem of twenty-two stanzas, following the letters of the Hebrew alphabet; within a stanza, each verse begins with the same Hebrew letter

Our Father,

We have all gone astray like lost sheep and we cry to you for forgiveness. We fall so short of following your commands but through your Son Jesus we have received the promise of salvation and daily help in putting your Word to work in our lives. Your Holy Spirit is our helper and our teacher so that we may come ever closer to understanding and following your teachings.

Our lips pour forth praise and worship as we meditate on your Word and we are thankful for the abundant life that we have received from you which is full of grace and mercy, along with blessings and honor without measure.

Let your Kingdom come and let your will be done in our lives.

In Jesus name, Amen.
