-Devotion and Prayer for the Day: Jeremiah 2
by Dr. D ~ October 13th, 2021

Join us in today’s prayer and devotion-
Read Jeremiah 2 and then join us in prayer:
Our Father,
In Jeremiah 2 you said the following about Israel:
“I remember the devotion of your youth,
your love as a bride,
how you followed me in the wilderness,
in a land not sown.
3 Israel was holy to the Lord,
Similar things could be said about America. We pray that America will turn around and remember why our motto has been ‘In God we trust’ and our pledge ‘One nation under God.’ How you blessed this nation from the very beginning and in its youth this nation and its leaders worshiped you and lifted up their voice in adoration and prayer. We pray that this nation will once more turn to you and worship you and your Son Jesus as it did from the very beginning.
You also said about Israel in verse 7:
7 And I brought you into a plentiful land
to enjoy its fruits and its good things.
But when you came in, you defiled my land
and made my heritage an abomination.9 And I brought you into a plentiful land
to enjoy its fruits and its good things.
But when you came in, you defiled my land
and made my heritage an abomination.11 Has a nation changed its gods,
even though they are no gods?
But my people have changed their glory
for that which does not profit.
12 Be appalled, O heavens, at this;
be shocked, be utterly desolate,
declares the Lord,
13 for my people have committed two evils:
they have forsaken me,
the fountain of living waters,
and hewed out cisterns for themselves,
broken cisterns that can hold no water.
We are now living in a time in America when we have turned the blessings and abundance that you have giving us in this generation into an abomination as we abort our inheritance and worship the very abundance that you have given us. We pray that America will turn around once more and worship you once more from sea to shining sea. We pray for mercy and revival rather than the judgment that our actions as an arrogant and rebellious nation may deserve.
We are now praying for good and better leadership for our nation; we have suffered a great loss recently in Afghanistan brought on by poor leadership, and there seems to be little hope for the future among our people. I believe verses 17 and 21 speaks to that:
17 Have you not brought this upon yourself
by forsaking the Lord your God,
when he led you in the way?21 Yet I planted you a choice vine,
wholly of pure seed.
How then have you turned degenerate
and become a wild vine?
Lord we pray that we will become a choice vine under your rule once more. Let your Kingdom come in our midst and let you will be done in America once more. We want to continue to be a blessed nation under you.
We pray in the name of your Son Jesus, Amen.
