-Anti-Semitism Raises its Ugly Head in America

In times past it was the KKK that led the way when it came to Anti-Semitism in America. Now it has been freely proclaimed in some of the highest political realms in our nation and Jews are being singled out for violent protests in some of the bluest bastions of progressive PC dogma in our nation, including New York City and Los Angeles. Just look at the pictures in the following articles:
“Anti-Semitic Palestinian Factions are Openly Attacking Jews in the Streets of America” and “Anti-Semitic attacks are being reported in US cities as tensions flare over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict”
And then read about the concerns that Jewish folk have for their safety in LA California: “‘It’s a scary time’ for L.A. Jews as attacks bring heightened security, anxiety”
Response: Many will contend that this is only about the conflict going on between the Israelis and the Palestinians. But the victims of the fallout herein the streets of the USA are just regular Jewish folks going about their usual business, and many of them are liberals who do not even back everything that is going on in Israel even if they may support the continuing existence of the Jewish state itself. However, many of the perpetrators of the attacks against Jews are American Muslims who are merely following the sentiment against Jews portrayed in their scriptures- The Koran, with shouts of “Allahu Akbar.” One such attacker, who was arrested for beating up a Jewish man in Midtown Manhattan, said that he would do it again even though the conflict in Israel was over.
In Congress; Reps. Jamaal Bowman, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Mark Pocan, Illhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Andre Carson have all repeated misinformation based upon Palestinian propaganda with very little recognition of the truth; calling Israel the aggressor while thousands of missiles were being sent into Israel by the terrorist group Hamas. Then in the Senate, Bernie Sanders called for American support and supply of weapons for Israel to be discontinued. Meanwhile, Israel needs its defensive anti-missile Dome, that has protected both Jews and Palestinians, to be replenished in the aftermath.
Now that Anti-Semitism has raised its ugly head in America, many of those who made anti-Israel statements in Congress have realized that they may have contributed to the Anti-Semitic atmosphere so have finally come out against the Anti-Semitism being demonstrated in the streets. No doubt many were pressured by political party leaders to make some kind of statement. Note that Bernie Sanders, who is a Jew himself, took the occasion to also declare against ‘Islamophobia’ along with Anti-Semitism, even though Muslims were not really singled out for discrimination in this case but were is many instances the perpetrators.
Can Anti-Semitism be separated from Support for or against the Jewish state of Israel? Yes I believe it can.
However, statements made by Muslim leaders like Iran’s Ali Hosseini Khamenei and Terrorist groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Islamic State not only call for the destruction of Israel but also the annihilation of the Jews. And I submit to you that many of those anti-Jewish statements have become part of the ‘pro-Palestinian movement’ in America. This is particularly true on many College and university campuses across our nation which has resulted in Jewish students being singled out and hassled for merely being Jews regardless of whether they support what is going on in the state of Israel. This can and should be characterized as Anti-Semitism and should not be acceptable anywhere in our nation.
Among Christians, we should be careful that our support for or against Israel does not contain any overtones that might be characterized as anti-Semitic. Hopefully we have gotten past such past designations as ‘Christ-Killers’ which was not true anyway since it was the Roman soldiers who actually carried out the Crucifixion of Jesus. Pastors and Christian leaders should always be found in the forefront opposing Anti-Semitism in America since our Lord himself was Jewish.
