-Devotion and Prayer for the Day: Psalm 78

Join us in today’s prayer and devotion-
Read Psalm 78 and then join us in prayer:
Our Father,
You have blessed our nation from the very beginning; you have given us good leaders through many generations and this country rose to lead the world. Through wars and difficulties you have watched over us and prospered us regardless of the challenges.
Throughout that history the majority of our people worshiped you, honored your Word, and took on the name of your Son.Now we live in a generation when many no longer believe that the world was created; so many reject your Word and the testimony of your goodness and miracles in former generations. Some are even rising up to support restrictions on your people and your church.
Others are saying that our nation is overdue for judgment and trouble; nature seems to be rising up against us. Supposedly in your name, people from far away lands are declaring war against our nation and against your people and church.
Now we are facing a major pandemic that has killed thousands and has ruined our economy. This is chaos in the streets of our major cities and serious political divisions in our country. Those we have elected to lead us seem more interested in their own political philosophy and party than what is best for our nation and people; and the media seems to be invested in stoking the fires of division rather than seeking the whole truth.
As a result, many people today have lost hope and faith in our political system and the media which has become part of the problem and the story. In the process, ‘the truth’ is ignored and has become irrelevant if it is inconvenient to one’s cause.
Rise up O Lord and let your Spirit hover over our nation once more; bring forth new leaders in our nation and in your church and let your Spirit bless them in a fresh and powerful way. Let a new generation experience your signs and wonders in their midst. Bring forth healings and miracles in the cities and in the countryside; let your Word be demonstrated to a new generation that does not know you or believe in your Son. Let the real truth set our nation free from the chaos.
Let a new generation rise up to praise your name from sea to shining sea; let the truth prevail, let your Word be respected once more, and let your church and people fulfill their destiny while there is yet day.
