A new Muslim lawmaker claimed that a prayer given in the Pennsylvania’s General Assembly in the name of Jesus was offensive and ‘Islmophobic.’  From Todd Starnes:

Pennsylvania’s first female Muslim lawmaker in the General Assembly accused a Republican colleague of Islamophobia after she opened a legislative session with a prayer that invoked the name of Jesus Christ. …

“It blatantly represented the Islamophobia that exists among some leaders — leaders that are supposed to represent the people,”

Johnson-Harrell said in a statement …

Response: So now Christian prayers in the name of Jesus are characterized as being ‘islamophobic’? The prayer only uplifted Jesus and Christian beliefs in his identity.  Admittedly the following was probably over the top for this context:

“At the name of Jesus, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess Jesus, that you are Lord”

It might be somewhat ‘offensive’ to Muslims, and Jews for that matter, but nothing in the prayer was actually anti-Muslim. If Christian beliefs in Jesus can be construed as being anti-Muslim and ‘Islamophobic’ then so be it.

There have been a number of occasions where Muslim Imams have pronounced traditional Islamic prayers in state legislative bodies without protests that they were ‘Christianophobic’ or ‘Anti-Semitic’ even though the language of the prayers did in fact put down Christians and Jews. 1. Brian

“I confess that there is no god but Allah and that Mohammed is his prophet”

and the 5 times a day Islamic prayer contains the following passage:

“In the name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful. Say, He is Allah, the One. Allah is Eternal and Absolute. He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none co-equal unto Him.”

There is no standard Christian prayer which is as as directly an attack on Islam as the foregoing sentences are an attack on Christianity.
