This is an update on the current state of the Government persecution of Christians in China. Not only is the government shutting down and destroying churches but now authorities are actually trying to force Christians to deny their faith. From the Baptist Press:

     …"The massive clampdown against thousands of churches in Henan and the forced closure and total shutdown of the largest house church in Beijing, Zion Church, [represent] a significant escalation on President Xi’s crackdown down against religious freedom in China,"

China Aid Founder and President Bob Fu said Sept. 10.

      "Now that the Chinese Communist Party has started to burn Bibles and coerce millions of believers in the Christian faith and other religious minorities to even sign a written pledge to renounce their basic religious beliefs,"

Fu said,

     "the international community should be alarmed and outraged at this blatant violation of freedom of religion and belief, and demand the Chinese regime stop and remedy this dangerous course."

Response: The greatest persecution of Christians since the time of Mao Zedong is now ongoing and escalating in China under President Xi Jinping.

According to China’s Constitution (since 1982) there is supposed to be freedom of religion in the country but that is no longer the case since  Xi Jinping became the president in 2013. According to reports, Xi is now implementing a five-year plan to "Sinicize" all Christian churches- that is…bring all Christian churches and institutions under government control.

In fact, persecution escalated since then to the point where government authorities have actually raided Christian homes and forced Christian families to take down pictures of Jesus and replace them with pictures of President Xi. Now comes the even more serious report that officials are demanding that believers sign documents renouncing their Christian faith.

Since President Xi is now ‘president for life’ it is time to put international pressure upon the Chinese government to curtail their persecution of Christians and other religions. It is time to persuade President Trump and his administration to stand in the gap for believers in China when there are visits and conversations between the two government leaders.

Baring anything else, it is time to pray and intercede for Christian believers in China. Mao tried to shut down the church and was unsuccessful and it grew exponentially instead. President Xi will also fail in his ‘5 year’ attempt to bring the church under his control. Pray for the Chinese church to continue to grow in the midst of it all. Pray that the Chinese Christian leaders will receive wisdom and guidance from the Holy Spirit on how to respond and adapt to current government environment.

We declare that the church will be successful since they are not actually opposing ‘flesh and blood’ government leaders but the principalities and powers of the evil one. Jesus Christ and his church wins in the end—’every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord’ even ‘President for life’ Xi Jinping.               *Top
