-California: Catholic School Removes Statue of Jesus and Mary?

by Dr. D ~ August 26th, 2017

Jesus and Mary –Offensive?

First Robert E. Lee and Jeff Davis, then Washington and Jefferson along with Chris Columbus. Now Jesus and Mary are added to the list of offensive statues?

When is a Catholic school no longer Catholic? When the administrators remove the traditional statue of Jesus and Mary along with 162 out of 180 Catholic icons from public view. Apparently the statue of Jesus and Mary is now in the basement along with other icons in order to be ‘more inclusive’ and less offensive to folks of other religions or those with none. Here’s the story from the Daily Wire:

In the unattainable quest for leftist-deemed inclusivity, a Catholic school in California is purging itself of all remnants of Catholicism, including a statue of baby Jesus and the Virgin Mary.

On Thursday, Marinij.com reported that San Domenico School in San Anselmo, California, had removed and relocated a number of Catholic statues in order to be more inclusive of other religions, sparking strong reactions from parents of students who attend the allegedly Catholic school.

Response: So the administrators of this school are ashamed of their Catholic Christian identity and deem it as potentially ‘offensive’ to others? The school administrators say  that this has nothing to do with the removal of controversial statues elsewhere. Nevertheless the reasons given (to not offend) are the same. This is an independent ‘Catholic’ Dominican school and they have the right to do whatever they like. This action was not forced by any government agency but the progressive educators at this school chose to bow to the predominate PC Northern California cultural environment.

This gives me pause to consider what may happen in the future as the more liberal Christian institutions and churches in America try to accommodate the larger PC cultural environment. This type of action by ‘Christian’ institutions will have the effect of making more conservative Christian churches and institutions stand out as outliers and violators of what is now considered to be the common PC good in the dominant culture. When that begins to happen real persecution will not be far behind.               *Top

“Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.” sister maureen should be aware, we should not have to change our identify to comply with the screaming mob. Sister Maureen should leave not Jesus

What concerns me is not so much the removal of the statues (as a Baptist, I may be prejudiced in this regard), but I wonder what this same school administration is doing to the curriculum? Is Christian Bible study being removed from the curriculum to avoid offending non-Christians? I suspect the answer is “yes”.

Yes, apparently some of the parents have been complaining also about the curriculum in regard to the dropping of some Catholic rites and teaching.
