-Boy Scouts: Facing a ‘Transgender’ Controversy?

by Dr. D ~ January 6th, 2017

Cub Scouts

Boy Scouts of America are now in the middle of a ‘transgender’ controversy. A Cub Scout pack rejected a transgender girl and the story has gone viral. From Todd Starnes of Fox News:

The Cub Scouts are facing a transgender controversy after an eight-year-old born a girl who identifies as a boy was asked to leave a New Jersey pack.  …

The eight-year-old, who had been a member of the scouting group for about a month, was kicked out of Cub Scout Pack 87 because she is transgender. Local news accounts indicate an unknown number of parents were upset their sons were in a scouting group with a girl who identifies as a boy.

How dare they judge me?” the child told The Record newspaper. “I don’t have to explain it. It’s the way I’m born.”  …

But the Boy Scouts of America defended the child’s ouster, pointing out to the newspaper the “child does not meet the requirements to participate in this program.”

“Gender identity isn’t related to sexual orientation,” BSA spokesperson Effie Delimarkos told the New York Daily News.

In other words, the child was not kicked out for being transgender. The child was kicked out for not being a boy.

Response: The BSA has already been forced to make changes in their sexual orientation policies. The biggest challenge before the organization lately has been by atheists attacking a basic member requirement for a general belief in God. Now this ‘transgender’ controversy.

I believe that this was a fabricated and well planned attack by a radical parent who was more interested in creating 15 minutes of issue oriented notoriety than being concerned for the well being of her own child or other children. The girl in question says that she feels ‘judged’ and rejected. I think that she was coached to make that specific reply. Doesn’t really sound like something a child would actually say.

In reality she was not judged by anyone or personally rejected. It was her own mother who knowingly and needlessly put her in that position.                *Top

Let’s think about what would have happened had she stayed in the Cub Scout troop.

    (a) The troop goes to the YMCA to work on their swimming merit badges. All the boys change in the boys locker room into their swim trunks. Where does she change?

    (b) Then, the troop goes to summer camp (for cub scouts, it is probably a very short few days in a ‘cabin camp’). Does she sleep in the same cabin as the other boys in the troop? Does she use the same showers? (these are the problems that schools are being forced to cope with, involving gym facilities and overnight field trips). Will her cub scout troop have to have chaperones for camping trips or similar activities? This could really constrain the troop’s activities.

My point being that her presence in the organization would be a disruptive element, that would interfere with the functions of the cub scout unit. She (and her mother) are agitating for her “rights” to join this organization – but what about the rights of the other boys to experience and enjoy scouting activities? What about the rights of their parents to not expose them to abnormal sexual lifestyles at the impressionable age of 8, 9 or 10? In so many areas of American society (and of American civil rights law), the focus is on the ability of the one person to have his/her right to participate, right to join, right to express himself/herself etc. but the impact on the bystanders who have to tolerate this one person’s actions or views is ignored.
