A Christian postgraduate student in the UK has been expelled from a university for expressing his opposition to gay marriage in a Facebook post. Here’s the story from The UK Telegraph:

A Christian postgraduate student has been expelled from his course, effectively ending his chances of a career as a social worker, for voicing opposition to gay marriage in a Facebook discussion.

Felix Ngole, a 38-year-old father of four… argued that homosexual activity is against the teaching of the Bible, quoting a verse from Leviticus describing it as an "abomination".

It was not until two months later that he was summoned to a disciplinary hearing at Sheffield University after a fellow student complained about his post.

He said he was initially not even told what he was accused of doing. He was eventually told that it involved breaching social work guidelines on "personal conduct" and "bringing the profession into disrepute".

Response: There are a large number of Muslim students attending Sheffield U. who also presumably oppose same-sex marriage. In fact they have their own student union and organization. I wonder if any of them would ever be treated in this same way?

We have stated on this website on a number of different occasions that in the near future that conservative Bible believing Christians may be barred from pursuing a number of different occupations. In this case it is social work in the UK. Note from the article that it was not because of anything that Mr. Ngole ever did or how he ever actually treated other people but solely based upon his privately stated beliefs. An outrageous and dangerous precedent.

Several years ago an American student was dropped from a masters degree program in counseling for nearly the same reasons. Look for more of this in the future. In fact, I expect that many conservative Christians will be vetted and weeded out during the application processes for many different degree programs in the future.               *Top
