-Oregon Gunman Targeted Christians?

According to first hand reports the gunman who killed 10 and injured 20 others at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg OR actually singled out Christians during the process. Here’s the story from the NY Post:

The gunman who opened fire at an Oregon community college was forcing people to stand up and state their religion before he began blasting away at them, survivors said Thursday.

A woman who claimed to have a grandmother inside a writing class in Snyder Hall, where a portion the massacre unfolded, described the scene in a tweet.

The shooter was lining people up and asking if they were Christian,” she wrote. “If they said yes, then they were shot in the head. If they said no, or didn’t answer, they were shot in the legs. My grandma just got to my house, and she was in the room. She wasn’t shot, but she is very upset.  …

Kortney Moore, an 18-year-old student at Umpqua Community College who was also in the room, told Oregon’s News Review that the shooter was indeed on the hunt for Christians.

Response: Can any of you imagine how you might answer the gunman if you were there standing in a line and everyone who professed to be a Christian was shot in the head? It would be a real test of faith.

Christians in America never face any real life-threatening persecution like those in the Middle East or Africa where Christians have been challenged to convert to Islam or die. Then there are all of the reports down through history where Christians suffered horrible deaths when they refused to deny their faith. But this shooting brings it all far closer to home.

How would you answer the gunman? Honestly I do not believe that one could really know for sure until faced with that kind of ultimate choice. A number of Christians today went to their deaths for their faith. I have a suspicion that other Christians may have survived by being silent or by denying their religion. Can they be forgiven? Maybe, but it would be harder to forgive ones self since others actually died. One thing for sure, you would be forever changed.             *Top

Compare the press coverage of the recent tragic shooting in Oregon and the shooting several months ago in Charleston. In the case of the Charleston shooting, the white-supremacist, anti-black aspects of the shooter’s motive were strongly emphasized.

In contrast, Mercer’s motives are being played down. While the media has reported that Mercer asked students their religion then killed anyone who identified as Christian, this fact is overlooked in many stories and, at most, played down – buried deep in the text.

The LA Times for example, reported:”The gunman was described Friday as a “hate-filled” individual with anti-religion and white supremacist leanings who had long struggled with mental health issues, law enforcement sources said.”

CNN did not mention religious motivation – buried in the text the sheriff was interviewed soon after the event quoted as saying he did not know about the gunman asking people their religious preferences. (In the same article, intriguingly, CNN stated that the gunman gave a package to a survivor at the shooting site, which would suggest some sort of manifesto. Whatever it was, it is apparently being surpressed).

In contrast to the image being presented, Mercer had posted on “Black Lives Matter websites. One of his post, responding to a racially motivated killing of a new reporter (live on air) in Virginia, stated “Good job! F— white racsist pigs like Bernie.” The site has since removed the posting but here is link:

Finally, he had links to jihadists which is being overlooked by the media.

I do not doubt that he had mental issues, these mental issues predisposed him to act on the aforesaid beliefs, rather than causing him to act without reason or reflection. After all, he brought an apparent manifesto, multiple weapons, ammunition and a bullet-proof vest with him – indicating that he was sufficiently rational to plan and reflect on his goals.

Bottom line – it appears that the shooter was motivated by anti-White, anti-Christian and pro-Islamic thoughts but a systematic effort is made to present him to the public as basically the opposite of that.

Thanks Brian, another thing left out by the MSM- the shooter’s mother is black so the white supremacist angle has no basis at all in fact.

Many Jewish people saved themselves and their children by claiming to be Christians when confronted with Hilter. You do not owe a murderer a correct response. You owe God who gave you the precious gift of your life, who entrusted its safe-keeping to you. You owe God by protecting that gift and lying to a mentally disturbed murderer. He knows why you are saying this, he understands.
