-Presbyterian Church USA Votes to Accept Same-Sex Marriage

The Presbyterian Church USA voted on Tuesday to change the denomination’s definition of marriage to include same-sex couples. Here’s the story from the Blaze:

The majority of the Presbyterian Church USA voted in favor of altering the definition to from “a man and a woman” to “two people, traditionally a man and a woman.”

The change is set to take effect on June 21.

The move was hailed by advocates who had long pushed for the measure.

Response: And so it continues. We have proclaimed on a number of different occasions in the last several months that every church and denomination in America will be forced over the next several years to choose between traditional Biblical teaching and the progressive American culture which endorses homosexuality and same-sex marriage.

The Presbyterian Church USA is the largest Presbyterian sect in America with approximately 1.8 million member. Look for division to follow with members leaving and an untold number of conservative congregations attempting to drop their affiliation with this denomination.

There is a large evangelical component of clergy and churches within this denomination that still believes in the Bible as the foundation of their faith. Now those more conservative members must decide whether to stay on and try to continue to be a positive conservative influence within the denomination or leave to join with more conservative Presbyterian sects. It is not over but just the beginning of decision time for the many evangelicals within this denomination.            *Top
