-Chaplain Could Lose Job Over Christian Beliefs

by Dr. D ~ March 13th, 2015

A highly decorated 19-year veteran Chaplain is in danger of losing his job because of his Christian beliefs. It is claimed by his commanding officer, who gave him outstanding written evaluation and recommendations in the past, that he is now unable to properly function in his position because of intolerant Christian views toward sexuality and marriage. Here’s the story from the Christian Post:

… Lt. Commander Wes Modder, who is endorsed by the Assemblies of God, has also been accused of being unable to "function in the diverse and pluralistic environment" of the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Goose Creek, S.C.

"On multiple occasions he discriminated against students who were of different faiths and backgrounds," the Chaplain’s commanding Officer Capt. Jon R. Fahs wrote in a memorandum obtained by Fox News.

Modder is a highly decorated, 19-year veteran of the military. Prior ..he served as the Force Chaplain of the Navy SEALs. His record is brimming with accolades and endorsements – including from Capt. Fahs.

In Modder’s most recent review, Fahs declared that the chaplain was "the best of the best," and a "consummate professional leader" worthy of an early promotion.

So how did Chaplain Modder go from being the "best of the best" to being unfit for service in the U.S. military in a span of five months?

Response: The whole climate and environment of the military has substantially changed under the Obama administration. Christian chaplains who have had long successful careers are now being challenged because of their Christian views and faith.

There are now elements within the American military that are questioning whether conservative Christians should even be eligible to serve as chaplains in the future. This coming from an atheist lobby that has gain considerable influence and power during the current regime and also from gay and LGBT activists since the military has officially opened the door to all sexual orientations.

In this case, it appears that Chaplain Modder was blindsided by an assistant under his command who reported on personal conversations concerning the Christian faith, homosexuality, and marriage making claims that the chaplain was discriminatory of those with same sex orientation.

This case highlights the new anti-conservative Christian environment in the military where chaplains are no longer free to even unofficially talk about their long held Christian views and faith. It is also now a place where Christians might be censored for sharing their faith with others.            *Top
