-"It’s OK to Say Merry Christmas"

by Dr. D ~ December 4th, 2014

In Redmond, Washington, signs celebrating Christmas have showed up for the 2nd year on public land. City officials say they are being put up in what is essential a ‘free speech’ zone so will get to stay until January. Here’s the story from CBN:

The signs read "It’s OK to say Merry Christmas," followed by a Bible verse. Some people are taking issue saying they find the signs offensive, especially because they are on public property.  …

The city says a faith-based message or any other message is permitted to be displayed along city right-of-ways so long as they`re not offensive or discriminatory.

City Mayor John Marchione said the signs are "a form of free speech, just like political signs and other signs." He said he is not going to take them down.

Response: It is nice to see some folks fighting back against political correctness. These days, so many are so concerned about offending anyone at all that the majority who celebrate Christmas in this country have been forced to give in on many different fronts. But the tide seems to be turning. The atheists are out putting up anti religion and Christmas signs all across the nation which are offensive to far more people but they do not seem to be concerned about offending anyone.

Actually I like those businesses who try to respect and mention all of the different holidays during this season rather than just the generic- “Happy Holidays”:

Merry Christmas!  Happy Hanukkah!  Happy New Year! and even Happy Kwanzaa!

But most of all: Merry Christmas!
