-Nigeria: Boko Haram Burns 185 Churches and Beheads 7

by Dr. D ~ October 8th, 2014

Borno State Nigeria

              (Borno State Nigeria: Wikipedia)

The rise of ISIS in Iraq and Syria has pushed this radical Islamist group off the pages of the International press. Nevertheless the Boko Haram continues their reign of terror in Nigeria attacking and capturing Christian towns and villages and then destroying churches and giving Christians the choice to run, convert or die.

Since January they have killed at least 2,053 people mostly Christians but also more moderate Muslims who refuse to support their cause.

In their most recent effort they captured a number of towns in the states of Borno and Adamawa and destroyed 185 churches while displaced thousands. Here’s an account from the International Business TImes:

Reverend Gideon Obasogie, the director of Catholic Social Communication of Maiduguri Diocese in Borno State, said the group’s seizure of territory in both states has seen 185 churches torched and over 190,000 people displaced by their insurgency.

In his statement, Obasogie said Boko Haram’s "ransacking and torching" of churches had forced priests to leave their homes for two months while displaced civilians were still unable to return to their towns and villages.

Just to bring you further updates on this radical group, now the Boko Haram is  mimicking ISIS by calling the territory that they rule a ‘Caliphate’ and seeing the notoriety that ISIS has recently received in Iraq they too are starting to publically behead people, particularly Christians who refuse to convert. Here is the story also from the International Business Times:

Radical Islamist group Boko Haram has beheaded seven civilians in the city of Ngambu in the northeastern state of Borno.

According to local resident Musa Abor, the terror group "slit their throats just the way people slaughter goats".

The Nigerian government is yet to identify the victims or comment on the brutal killing.

The group have previously sought to target security forces but are now focusing their attacks on civilian targets and religious locations.

Response: The news in Nigeria continues to get worse rather than better. The 200 plus kidnapped Christians school girls are still missing and reportedly the group sold many of them into slavery to support their cause. Meanwhile, the Nigerian authorities are really doing nothing to stop the Muslim radicals. The not to secret ‘secret’ is that half of the Nigerian army are Muslims who cannot be counted on if they were ordered to pursue the Boko Haram so their reign of terror continues unabated.            *Top
