-Pro-Lifers Not Welcome in New York? A Bishop’s Response to Gov. Cuomo’s Statement

Recently New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo made a controversial statement in which he contended that pro-lifers were ‘extremists’ who were not welcome and had no place in his state.
I don’t think he really understands how many millions of New Yorkers he actually alienated with that contentious observation. Also since then I have read hundreds of statements from people all around America proclaiming that they will spend their shopping and vacation money elsewhere since they are obviously no longer welcome in New York.
Now here’s a poignant response from Catholic Bishop Richard Malone of Buffalo, New York who represents some of those millions of pro-life New Yorkers:
“And the governor of New York state actually said that there’s no place for us if we are pro-life in the state of New York,” the bishop said. “Now he is speaking of extremism and I think that comment is the best example of extremism I’ve heard for a long time. At first it was so outrageous that it made me laugh. Then it made me deeply concerned.”

Response: Who is really the ‘extremist?’ I believe that Gov. Cuomo who would like to silence millions in his own state fits that designation rather well. *Top
