-Obama Administration’s False Claim: Hobby Lobby Restricting Employee Access to Contraceptives

by Dr. D ~ November 29th, 2013

Official portrait of Senior Advisor and Assist...

   (Valerie Jarrett: Wikipedia)

Obama administration’s Valerie Jarrett is claiming that the Hobby Lobby is trying to restrict their employees access to contraceptives? Another ridiculous Obamacare claim being made by this administration. In reality this is part of the administration’s PR barrage in their battle for the HHS Contraceptive Mandate against freedom of religion. Here’s the story from the Blaze:

White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett called out Hobby Lobby and insisted the Obamacare mandate case that will go before the Supreme Court is about whether big corporations can restrict women from having access to birth control.

“No corporate entity should be in position to limit women’s legal access to care, or to seize a controlling interest over the health care choices of women,” Jarrett wrote on the White House blog. “To take that type of power away from individuals, and to let the personal beliefs of a woman’s boss dictate her health care choices would constitute a major step backward for women’s health and self-determination.”

The case is actually a religious freedom complaint against the administration for the Health and Human Services mandate requiring insurance to provide free coverage of abortion-inducing drugs, contraception and sterilization. If the plaintiffs win, it would not allow them to restrict employees from buying these products on their own, only that the employees would not get them for free.

Response: Shame on Valerie Jarrett and the Obama administration. This is another false characterization by this administration and its representatives. No one working for Hobby Lobby or anyone else opposing the HHS Mandate is trying “to limit women’s legal access to care” or in any way restricting their employees from purchasing contraceptives if they so choose. The HHS Mandate is all about getting contraceptives for free and forcing companies and organizations to pay for it all.

When the owners have religious conscience problems with paying for contraceptives like those of Hobby Lobby then it is really all about freedom of religion. What is really shocking about this statement by Jarrett is that there is no way she can be ignorant of the facts so is making this false lying claim on purpose for political reasons. It is really hard to respect a person like this.            *Top
