-Christian Ministry Defined as ‘Domestic Hate Group’ in Army Briefing
by Dr. D ~ October 16th, 2013
In a U.S. Army briefing for active duty and reserve troops a respected Christian ministry- the American Family Association -was identified as a ‘domestic hate group’ because of their stand against same-sex marriage and their traditional Christian teaching on sexual immorality. Here’s the story from Todd Starnes of Fox news:
Several dozen U.S. Army active duty and reserve troops were told last week that the American Family Association, a well-respected Christian ministry, should be classified as a domestic hate group because the group advocates for traditional family values.
The briefing was held at Camp Shelby in Mississippi and listed the AFA alongside domestic hate groups like the Ku Klux Klan, Neo-Nazis, the Black Panthers and the Nation of Islam.
A soldier who attended the briefing contacted me and sent me a photograph of a slide show presentation that listed AFA as a domestic hate group.
Response: In the last couple of years, there have been far too many occasions where conservative Christian groups and churches have been labeled as ‘hate groups’ to be avoided by those in the military to be entirely accidental or merely unfortunate mistakes. When challenged, the Pentagon has always claimed that these were isolated cases and did not represent an official policy. However the same criteria used to identify these groups as ‘radical’ and ‘domestic ‘hate groups’ could also apply to every conservative Evangelical, Pentecostal and Charismatic church in America.
I no longer believe that these identifications are a mistake at all since a majority of the Americans in Conservative churches also oppose many of the policies of the current administration. While 1000’s of churches and tens of millions of Americas could never legally be identified as belonging to ‘hate groups’ because of their traditional Biblical beliefs and theology. Nevertheless such identifications are being inferred and members of the military are actively being subjected to warnings that cannot be publically admitted to at this time.
Point is, there are major battle ahead for conservative Christians in America who want to continue to adhere to traditional Biblical teaching on sexuality and immorality. Instances like these are chilling to say the least. If Christians do not stand up now for their Constitutional rights right now than the time could well come when the attacks against conservative Christian groups and churches could escalate and become commonplace. *Top
