Last weekend in Syria, an al-Qaeda-Linked group of (now American supported) Rebels beheaded a Catholic priest. In a video of the execution, dozens of men and boys are seen cheering as Syrian Catholic priest Francois Murad, 49, was beheaded. Here’s the story from the Blaze:

…Murad, 49, was setting up a monastery in Gassanieh, northern Syria. Last Sunday, on the Christian leader’s Sabbath, extremist militants trying to topple President Bashar Assad breached the monastery and grabbed Murad.

While earlier reports suggested Murad may have been shot to death, Catholic Online reported Saturday: “The Vatican is confirming the death by beheading of Franciscan Father, Francois Murad, who was martyred by Syrian jihadists on June 23.”

Response: The needless execution this Catholic priest is too horrific to view or even imagine. The video was far too graphic and personally I could not get through it. It really is surreal with a crowd cheering and egging on the executioner in the name of Allah. Pure evil!

The Syrian rebels continue to kill Christians even though President Obama has decided to support their cause. One would have thought that the American administration would have negotiated with the rebels first to stop killing innocent folks before giving them support. The actions of this group calls into question why Obama chose to get involved in this civil war in the first place since neither side can be said to hold any high moral ground or represent any real American interests.

I can understand why we would not want to support the murdering Syrian dictator. But al Qaeda linked rebels who behead Catholic priests are not such a good match either. Obviously our support has not bought us any respect or consideration at all and I don’t expect that it ever will.            *Top
