-Even Mentioning Admiration of an Employee’s Faith is a Violation?

Is this where we are in America now? Even mentioning admiration of an employees faith or spirituality gets questioned as possible discrimination and a violation of the civil rights or employment laws?

Here’s the story and it involves Tim Tebow who the liberal main stream media do not especially care for because of his demonstrated Christian faith. That especially includes the sports media who constantly go out of their way to present Tebow is the worst possible light on every turn.

When His new employer, Robert Kraft owner of the New England Patriots, mentions that he believes that the strong faith of Tim Tebow is a positive from his perspective the media goes crazy in their speculations and response. Here’s the quote from Kraft:

“For me personally, having Tim Tebow on this team, he’s someone who believes in spirituality, he’s very competitive and works hard, and has a great attitude, and he’s a winner,” the team’s owner told the sports outlet.

“So having him as part of our franchise is great, but he has to compete just like anyone else. We’re blessed to have a lot of people like that, but the fact that spirituality is very important to him is very appealing to me.”

Meanwhile, Elizabeth Tenety of the Washington Post questioned whether this might be a violation of the law since “employers are not legally permitted to reject or discriminate based upon religion.” Wondering out loud whether it would be legal for an employer to favor or treat employees more positively because of an admired approach to faith.

She later quoted others that it would not be a violation in this case since Tebow still had to prove himself. She ‘only’ supposedly posed the question and did not really make the claim but the effect and the damage was the same nonetheless.            *Top
