-Now Secularists Demand Boy Scouts Change Their ‘God’ Policy

It had to happen. Once the Boy Scouts changed their policy towards membership for homosexuals other groups immediately started calling for further changes in the organization. Now atheist and secularists are calling for the Scouts to change their policy requiring belief in God. From Citizen Link:
Roy Speckhardt, executive director of the American Humanist Association, said Thursday that the BSA needs to change its policy regarding “humanists and atheists.” He accused the BSA of “bigotry.” Some of the other groups wanting this policy change include The Freedom From Religion Foundation and American Atheists.
Response: So there you have it, now the Boy Scouts are ‘bigots’ because they require their members to affirm a belief in God. I said last week that other groups would immediately come forward and demand further changes to be made by the Scouts. I had forgotten all about the ‘God’ controversy in the Scouts.
As predicted, LGBT groups were happy that the Boy Scouts now accepted openly gay members but turned around and demanded that the group allow for homosexual leaders also. Now that the Boy Scouts have changed one major policy look for continuing pressure to make more changes in order to reflect the current demands of progressive political correctness. The blood is in the water and the sharks are circling so to speak.
In a few short years the Boy Scouts could well be nothing like the organization they used to be. Conservative Christians may be forced to look elsewhere because their Biblical values which once were the foundation and the norm in the Boy Scouts may no longer be welcome in that organization. *Top

Dr. D – The information I am hearing is that the Mormon Church, in the past year or two, has been quietly but decisively altering its position on homosexual marriage/gay rights, and toning down its rhetoric on both issues. In regard to the scout vote, what I am hearing is that a major percentage of the delegates who voted were Mormons (Mormons sponsor more scout troops than any other organization), and that their bloc vote was the critical factor in the vote to admit homosexual scouts.
Do you have any information or comment on this?

Brian, I believe that your information is correct. The Mormon Church sponsors at lease one Scout group in every one of their Wards (Churches) and hold a major swing vote due to their numbers. At first they objected to the change entirely, then they were open to allowing troops to decide for themselves and finally their top church leaders who have been in the process of reevaluated their approach and stand on Homosexuality made it known to their representatives among the Boy Scouts that they would accept a full change.
Fortunately those same leaders would probably oppose any change on the ‘God’ issue.
