Christians from Russia’s Orthodox community are demanding that the country’s Apple division remove the famous half-bitten apple logo from its products and replace it with a cross, because they find the apple image offensive to their beliefs.

Response: Wow, I thought crazy stuff like this only happened in Muslim dominated countries? Russia does have a large Muslim population but the Russian Orthodox Christians are driving this issue and supporting the passage of ‘blasphemy’ laws.

The scary thing about all of this is the unseen implications that new ‘blasphemy’ laws might have on freedom of religion and free speech when it comes to religion in Russia. Not a promising development at all.

It also points out the continuing cultural differences between the perspectives and thinking of the Russia people and those in the West, particularly in America, when it comes to Free speech and freedom of religion.              *Top
