-Ahmadinejad: Israel Must be Annihilated

(President of Iran: Wikipedia)
In a Ramadan speech given to Ambassadors from Islamic countries and published today on his presidential website (Thursday), Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that the ultimate goal of world forces must be the annihilation of Israel:
“Qods Day is not merely a strategic solution for the Palestinian problem, as it is to be viewed as a key for solving the world problems."
"Anyone who loves freedom and justice must strive for the annihilation of the Zionist regime in order to pave the way for world justice and freedom.”
Response: Ahmadinejad continues to call for the complete and utter destruction of Israel. Meanwhile in the last month or so the Iranian military have been testing long range missiles with a capacity that could possibly deliver and release nuclear warheads on Israel and even parts of Europe. The Iranians are said to be on the verge of producing nuclear weapons that could make these idle threats a reality.
To those who are not concerned about nuclear weapons that are far off in the Middle East, remember the Iranian’s have also threatened the USA. Before you laugh that off, read the following:
Last week the Iranians were even threatening to send navel vessels with missile capability along the eastern seaboard of the USA. Most considered it to be a hallow threat that could not be accomplished since they would have no logistical support from a nearby navel base. Then also last week there was another report that the Russians were negotiating with the Cubans to build a major navel facility within a few hundred miles of the American coastline. The Iranians and Russians have also formed a military alliance that might well make the Iranian threat a chilling possibility in the near future.
Meanwhile, the Obama administration does not seem to be fully convinced that the Iranians would actually follow through with any of these threats. The word is that they continue to block Israel from attempting to destroy Iran’s nuclear project. The American administration believes that the economic sanctions in place, which are ruining the Iranian economy, will eventually bring Iran to the negotiating table.
However, I do not believe that our diplomats and our current presidential administration fully understand the religious motivations that drive the Iranian leaders. President Carter made a huge mistake with these guys over 30 years ago and it kick started Islamic radicalism and eventually brought us the terrorism we are all living with now. President Obama seems to be primed to make an even graver error. *Top

So how does this :
“Anyone who loves freedom and justice must strive for the annihilation of the Zionist regime in order to pave the way for world justice and freedom.”
Mean this:
“Ahmadinejad continues to call for the complete and utter destruction of Israel.” ?
Answer: It doesn’t. He was misunderstood and misquoted before and it’s happening again. If you can’t understand what he means in this quote when it’s perfectly worded in plain english then I’m not going to reword it for you. You people make me sick.

matt,
What does ‘annihilation’ mean to you? There are many other times when statements have been made by Iranian officials on official Iranian government sites that give clarity to their meaning and context when it comes to “annihilation of the Zionist regime.” Here’s just one of many:
If that is not clear enough for you then nothing ever will be.
