-This Week’s ‘Cross’ Story
by Dr. D ~ July 19th, 2012
From Fox News Todd Starnes:
A small Indiana town may have to remove a super-sized cross anchored on public property after a someone filed a complaint with Americans United for Separation of Church and State.
The Dugger Town Council voted unanimously to move the 26-foot tall cross to avoid a possible lawsuit. Americans United sent a letter to town officials explaining that the cross had to be moved because it was an unlawful government endorsement of Christianity.
Response: This week’s ‘cross’ story comes to us from Dugger, Indiana. Different town, same story. There are literally thousands of crosses and religious symbols on public property all across America, including quite a few inside the US Supreme Court building itself.
The community wants the cross but an outside organization- Americans United– demands that it be taken down or else. The town doesn’t have the money to fight a lawsuit but neither do they have the funds necessary to take it down or move it. Maybe American United should be asked to pay for it?
Meanwhile the community feels like their freedoms are being lost in the process. *Top
