-International Outcry Brings Re-trial For Iranian Pastor

Supreme Court of Iran has ordered a re-trial for a Christian pastor sentenced to death for ‘apostasy.’ Facing death, Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani refused to recant his Christian faith in at least 3 Appeals Court hearings.

The Appeals Court found him guilty of ‘apostasy’ even though it could not be proven that he was ever a Muslim since his ancestors had been.

After receiving protests from numerous international sources, the Iranian regime claimed that the pastor was also guilty of rape, extortion, and crimes committed against the state. None of these latter charges had ever been mentioned before or addressed in any court.

As the international out-cry increased, the case was recently sent to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei for review. Now the case has been sent back to the Supreme Court for re-trail.

Response: What is really frustrating about this case is that the Iranian authorities were going beyond their own laws and codes in order to kill this pastor. After an investigation proved that Pastor Youcef had never been a practicing Muslim the case should have ended but the judges sentenced the pastor to death anyway.

International attention finally took its toll and now the case will be re-tried before their Supreme Court. This could be only a delaying tactic by the Iranians. The Ayatollah Khamenei is not known for mercy but just the opposite. He is now obviously involved in this case. Look for the Iranian’s to find some other bogus charges to bring against the pastor that will bring the decided results within their laws.            *Top

On October 1, Iran announced that Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani was not sentenced to death for apostasy, but was, instead, under sentence of death for rape.

Here’s something odd. Here we are two weeks later. Whatever happened to the rape charge?

Answer: the Iranians dropped the idea of a rape charge because it fooled no one. It was another attempt at a bogus charge against a Christian leader in Iran. No one fell for it.

But, here is the problem: go through the mainstream media coverage of Youcef Nadarkhani’s case, during the last week or so – – you will find very few, if any, MSM outlets pointing out to their readers that Iran raised flagrantly fraudulent charges against this Christian, then just as suddenly forgot about them.

The whole episode with the alleged rape charge needs to be emphasized, because it highlights the moral turpitude of the Iranian regime, and clearly confirms that the “apostasy” charge is nothing but persecution of a Christian.

    Thanks Brian,
As usual the MSM doesn’t quite get the story right. The latest is that it was sent back to their Supreme Court but closer sources I have read say they are merely waiting for the Ayatollah’s decision and then they will merely rubber stamp itather thean any real ‘re-trial’. The charges are obviously bogus no matter what they are.
