The economy is bad and folks are trying to make ends meet all across America. Now comes the word that the Obama Administration is going to make it harder and more expensive for Asthma sufferers like myself to obtain inhalers? Just another reason that I’ll breathe a whole lot better when President Obama is gone.

According to a news release on Thursday, the Obama administration is plans to ban over-the-counter epinephrine inhalers:

Asthma patients who rely on over-the-counter inhalers will need to switch to prescription-only alternatives as part of the federal government’s latest attempt to protect the Earth’s atmosphere.

The Food and Drug Administration said Thursday patients who use the epinephrine inhalers to treat mild asthma will need to switch by Dec. 31 to other types that do not contain chlorofluorocarbons, an aerosol substance once found in a variety of spray products.

The action is part of an agreement signed by the U.S. and other nations to stop using substances that deplete the ozone layer, a region in the atmosphere that helps block harmful ultraviolet rays from the Sun.

But the switch to a greener inhaler will cost consumers more. Epinephrine inhalers are available via online retailers for around $20, whereas the alternatives, which contain the drug albuterol, range from $30 to $60.

Response: I find it really hard to believe that asthma inhalers cause any kind of measurable damage to the environment.

This is another case where the environmental ideologues in the Obama administration are governing against the will of the people and bringing changes that will cost all of us a whole lot more money just to live and in this case breathe.

On one hand you have inexpensive easily accessible products (over-the-counter inhalers) that help thousands of people with actual negligible harm to the environment. On the other side you have a group of well-meaning environmentalist nut burgers who sometimes view people as a plague or disease on planet earth. Guess which side the Obama administration is on?

If someone can show me any scientific evidence that asthma inhalers affect the environment in any measurable way, than I would gladly give them up and pony up for the more expensive prescription alternative.

Meanwhile, a whole lot of asthma sufferers, many of which are retired and on fixed incomes, will have to pay a whole lot more for their inhalers and pay for doctor’s visits in order to get their needed prescriptions. Fact is, some may suffer major health problems or even death because inhalers will no longer be readily available when they are really needed.

All of this in order to throw a bone to the radical environmentalists that are part of President Obama’s base of supporters. The results= a very small immeasurable gain for the environment paid for in untold cost and misery for asthma sufferers.            *Top
