Yesterday was International Quds Day all across the Muslim world. The last Friday of Ramadan is dedicated to supporting the Palestinians and calling for the destruction of the Jewish state of Israel. Here’s just a taste:

-Iran:

Thousands rally in the streets of Iran against Israel and the USA. Many demonstrators in Tehran Signed a petition condemning the continued occupation of Muslim Palestinian land by the Jewish state of Israel.

Also, Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called for the destruction of Israel in an interview:

“Iran believes that whoever is for humanity should also be for eradicating the Zionist regime (Israel) as symbol of suppression and discrimination."

Ahmadinejad also indicated in a separate speech that ‘Israel existence insults human dignity’ and to the independence and interests of all world nations.

-Egypt:

Hundreds protested in front of the Israeli embassy in Cairo calling for the end of relations between their countries and for the end of Israel itself.

Also, the Egyptian Parliament demanded Israel to give back the port city of Eilat. Israel claimed that city during the 1948 War of Independence. Egypt formerly gave up its claim to Eilat in 1979 Camp David Accords.

Meanwhile, Egyptian radicals are planning to hold a massive ‘million man’ rally against Israel in Cairo’s Liberation Square.

At the same time, the Coptic Christians have announced that they will not participate in the Anti-Israel rallies.

-Palestinian Territory:

Prime Minister of the Hamas-run Gaza government Ismail Haniyeh said Friday that his government will never recognize Israel:

"We will not leave any centimeter of Palestine, and we will not recognize Israel and the occupation."

Haniveh called for the establishment of a Palestinian state to be established "from the [Jordan] river to the [Mediterranean] sea."  Of course that would necessitate the complete elimination and destruction of the Jewish state of Israel.

In Jerusalem on Friday, thousands of Muslims demanding entry to Jerusalem to pray at the al-Aqsa mosque on last Friday of Ramadan clashed with IDF (Israeli) soldiers over access, but only older men and women are allowed to enter. The Al-Aqsa Mosque is Islam’s holiest site in Jerusalem’s Old City. Muslim officials at al-Aqsa Mosque estimated the number of worshippers at over 250,000.

Meanwhile, over 170 rockets were launched by Hamas radicals in Gaza against Israel in the last week leading up to Quds Day.

-London, UK:

Muslim countries were not the only place where rallies were held against Israel. In London’s Trafalgar Square, hundreds called for the destruction of Israel.  Lauren Booth (Tony Blair’s sister-in-law) made the following incendiary comments:

“It is time, Brothers and Sisters, for Al Quds (Jerusalem) to be liberated. For Islam and people of the world who wish to pray there to the one God. And we say here today to you Israel, we see your crimes and we loathe your crimes. And to us your nation does not exist, because it is a criminal injustice against humanity. We want to see Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt go to the borders and stop this now. Liberate Al Quds! March to Al Quds!”

Signs were displayed by the demonstrators calling for the end of Israel:

“End the Siege, End the Occupation, End the Israeli Apartheid”, “End Israel”.

Response: These are just a few of the articles I ran across on the Net this morning following ‘al Quds Day’ on Friday.

On one hand, millions of Muslims in America are peace loving folks who decry the connection of their religion with terror and violence around the world. Yet they are betrayed by the actions of their brothers and sisters particularly in the Middle East who continue to call for the utter destruction of Israel.

Is there no way that one can support the establishment of a Palestinian State without violence and Israel’s destruction? They seem to go hand-in-hand in the Muslim world. Where are the religious leaders of the ‘religion of peace’ actually calling for peace? There may be some but they are muted and over-shadowed by their more violent brothers.             *Top
