In an interview, Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi, the Libyan rebel leader admits that some of his fighters have links with al Qaeda and some are jihadists who fought against allied troops in Iraq and Afghanistan including himself.

Al-Hasidi insisted his fighters “are patriots and good Muslims, not terrorists,” and that the “members of al-Qaeda are also good Muslims and are fighting against the invader”. He said that he fought against the US forces in Afghanistan because he considered them to be a crusader “foreign invasion” from the West.

Response: Some have question why I said in an earlier post that the current situation in Libya was “a no-win Scenario“ for the US and the West. This is why. No matter how it turns out we lose. Why commit $ resources, equipment, and risk the lives of our military when there are really no possibilities of improving the situation. Regardless of the outcome we lose and the Libyan people lose also.

For example, currently there is very little freedom for Christians in Libya under Gadhafi. Does anyone really expect the conditions to improve and for ‘freedom of religion’ to flourish in that country if the jihadist rebels win out? No, decidedly not.            *Top
