Punjab province Governor Salman Taseer was shot dead in Islamabad, Pakistan Tuesday by one of his own guards. The guard later told interrogators that he was angry about Taseer’s opposition to Pakistan’s blasphemy law.

Lately the blasphemy law has been used to subject Christian and other minority religionists to arrests and jail time all over the country many times for trumped-up charges.

There has been considerable pressure from around the world for the Pakistani government to revise their blasphemy law and make clearer and more precise and harder to abuse.

Governor Taseer was a close associate of the president and a courageous voice on the rights of women and religious minorities.

Response: Once again the Islamist have struck down a moderating voice in Pakistan. The country is in danger of being over-run and taken over completely by the radical Islamists. Given that the country is a nuclear power it is a terrible prospect for world peace.

It is time for us Christians to wake up. The Church must be strong in the days to come. Things we see else where in the world, will come here.

    Amen Ken.
