-Mojave Desert Memorial Cross is Stolen
by Dr. D ~ May 11th, 2010
The 75-year-old Mohave Desert War Memorial Cross was cut down and stolen Sunday night according to federal officials. The US Supreme Court ruled just last month that the cross could stay.
The ACLU and other groups had brought a lawsuit to get the memorial cross taken down since it was on Federal land. Then the Congress voted in 2004 to transfer the land to private ownership but a ACLU suit blocked the transfer and eventually the case made its way up to the Supreme Court.
Now someone or some group has taken the law into their own hands and removed the cross anyway.
Meanwhile, some of the media beginning with the Associated Press have insisted that ‘scrap metal scavengers’ may have done the deed. A preposterous idea considering the expense in gasoline to get there in the first place and the actual time and effort needed to cut down the huge 7 foot metal cross.
You can count on the media lately to ignore the obvious—especially when religion is involved. In this case probably anti-religion or anti-Christian activists. *Top
