-Comedy Central Developing a ‘Jesus Christ’ Cartoon Show?

by Dr. D ~ May 7th, 2010

image Comedy Central refused to even show Muhammad on its South Park show. Now it is said to be developing a new half-hour cartoon show called- “JC” .  It’s about Jesus Christ living ‘regular’ life in New York city trying escape the shadow of his "powerful but apathetic father". It is only in the developmental stage now but it is already being pitched to potential advertisers.

According to The Hollywood Reporter article:

In the show, God is preoccupied with playing video games while Christ, "the ultimate fish out of water," tries to adjust to life in the big city.

Here’s the response of Comedy Central’s head of original programming Kent Alterman:

"In general, comedy in purist form always makes some people uncomfortable."

The Comedy Central folks still refuse to comment on their censoring of a recent South Park show that was to include references to Islam’s Muhammad.

Response: Comedy Central doesn’t want to offend Muslims but deems it ok to make fun of God and his Son Jesus Christ and offend a billion and a half Christians? All in the name of comedy and making a fast buck?

It is time for Christians to stand up and be counted. Maybe we can hit them where it really hurts—in the pocket book. If this show really does get off the ground I would hope that the sponsors receive more than enough grief from the Christian community. In a time of recession, no company really needs the negative PR that this show would bring.            *Top
