-Now There’s ‘Gender-Neutral’ (Mixed-Gender) Dorm Rooms in Colleges?

Now there are more than 50 colleges and universities across the nation that offer ‘gender-neutral’ housing which is another way of saying that young men and women can now choose to live in a dorm room with a member of the opposite sex.
In fact according to at least one ‘enlightened’ college administrator gender and sex is no longer considered important:
“If we are going into a post-gender world, then the regulation of private behavior is just not practical.”
Response: How long has this been going on? In the 70’s parents were surprised to find that their little college darlings were living in coed dorms. Next came coed bathrooms which I still don’t get and now coed rooms? What next? Plus according to several administrators in the Times article, the parents paying for it have no say?
Also, exactly what is a ‘post-gender’ world? Do I even want to live in a world where the genders are ‘no longer important’?
It all started with Adam and Eve, God actually made two genders.
But lately there’s Adam and Steve, Eva and Eve, and John who dresses like Joan? Then finally there’s Steve who likes both Adam and Eve? Now it’s going to be no gender at all—a ‘post-gender’ world? Toleration is one thing but no more gender?
One thing for sure, natural raging hormones are going to remind the college kids that there are genders and differences whether the egghead profs and administrators want to admit it or not. *Top
