You knew it was going to happen. Barack Obama has been President for nearly a year and everything that comes along that’s bad he always blames on his predecessor. It took him a while but Pres. Obama finally figured out a way to backhandedly blame Bush for the Christmas bomber.

Here’s the part of the speech yesterday where he ultimately blamed Pres. Bush for the whole debacle:

“Finally some have suggested that the events on Christmas Day should cause us to revisit the decision to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay. So let me be clear.

It was always our intent to transfer detainees, to other countries, only under conditions that provide assurances that our security is being protected. With respect to Yemen in particular, there is an ongoing security situation which we have been confronting for some time, along with our Yemeni partner.

Given the unsettled situation, I’ve spoken to the attorney general. And we’ve agreed that we will not be transferring additional detainees back to Yemen at this time.

But make no mistake. We will close Guantanamo prison, which has damaged our national security interests and become a tremendous recruiting tool for al Qaeda.

In fact, that was an explicit rationale for the formation of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.

And as I’ve always said, we will do so — we will close the prison in a manner that keeps the American people safe and secure.”

So he blames Guantanamo as the reason for the formation and recruitment of the al Qaeda group in Yemen in the first place and it was the Yemeni faction which sponsored the Christmas Day bomber. Therefore in a backhanded way it is all Bush’s fault for opening Gitmo prison.

Forget the fact that the group was formed by former prisoners of Gitmo that returned to their terrorist activities with a new vigor and never should have been let go in the first place. In my way of thinking, it was the fault of Barack Obama who released a bunch of these guys and folks like him who also pressured Bush to let a bunch go last year.            *Top
