Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein said the following in an interview when it was pointed out that there was a wide gap between how ‘Hollywood’ folks felt about the Roman Polanski affair and how the rest of America viewed it:

"Hollywood has the best moral compass, because it has compassion. We were the people who did the fundraising telethon for the victims of 9/11. We were there for the victims of Katrina and any world catastrophe."

To most in the country a 43 year old film maker taking advantage of a 13 year old girl-filling her with drugs, raping her, and doing all sorts of unmentionable things is not to be lightly dismissed. But there it is a petition signed by brightest and greatest in Hollywood and in the entertainment industry supporting Polanski and the dropping of his case. Incredibly, near the top of that list is Woody Allen who slept with and ended up marrying his adopted daughter—another great example of that Hollywood ‘moral compass’.

Now here is the real test:

If Roman Polanski was a Roman Catholic priest would any one in Hollywood or anywhere else still be suggesting that the case is “too old” and should be dropped? Right!

And exactly how has the ‘repentant’ Polanski led his life on the lam in France during the last 30 years? One of the first things he did was pursue an affair with a 15 year old actress. Later when interviewed about his case and proclivity for very young underage women he was quoted as saying:

"But … [having sex], you see, and the young girls. Judges want to [have sex with] young girls. Juries want to [have sex with] young girls. Everyone wants to [have sex with] young girls!"

So there you have it—an example of some of that great and enduring Hollywood ‘moral compass’ that Hollywood parades before the rest of the country and the whole world.
