-Shame, Shame On AP for Publishing Photo of Dying Marine

by Dr. D ~ September 5th, 2009

Notice that there is no photo for this post. The Associated press went ahead and published a photo of a dying marine  in Afghanistan over the objections of the Marine’s family and the Pentagon.

They even went ahead and published it over the objections of Defense Secretary Robert Gates who called it “appalling” and a breach of “common decency”:

“I cannot imagine the pain and suffering Lance Corporal Bernard’s death has caused his family. Why your organization (AP) would purposefully defy the family’s wishes knowing full well that it will lead to yet more anguish is beyond me. Your lack of compassion and common sense in choosing to put this image of their maimed and stricken child on the front page of multiple American newspapers is appalling. The issue here is not law, policy or constitutional right – but judgment and common decency.”

Response: Shame, shame on the AP for publishing the photo anyway. There can be no excuse or reason for such a tactless, hurtful, and indecent decision.            *Top

What’s happened to morals these days? People are replacing common sense and just basic decency with a chance to make some money. I guarantee if it was one of their family members, they wouldn’t have published it. People like that should be arrested and serve time. Greed takes control of some people, or companies, and they totally forget about basic morals. All they think about is money, money, money. These people shouldn’t be allowed to function in normal society.
