-California: Episcopal Bishops Support Homosexual Marriage

by Dr. D ~ September 12th, 2008

image The 6 Episcopal Bishops of California came out this week in support of homosexual marriage and in opposition to Proposition 8 which is an amendment that would change the California constitution and  preserve the integrity of marriage as being between one man and one woman. The amendment became necessary when the California Supreme Court ruled that homosexual couples could be legally married in the state.

Most religious groups in the state are supporting Prop. 8 including– most Christians, Jews, Muslims, Mormons, Hindus and Sikhs.

California already has a legal domestic partnership  law that gives full civil rights to domestic partners—the same rights that married couples enjoy in the state. Prop. 8 would not reverse that law, but would only preserve traditional legal ‘marriage’ as being between one man and one woman.

Response: Support of the homosexual agenda within the Episcopal Church in America has already caused considerable schism among Anglicans. These Bishops seem intent upon making things worse for their denomination–this is an ‘in your face’ move against more conservative Christians. I’m sure that there will be some negative reactions from more conservative members and priests in the Episcopal Church.            *Top
