-NYC Subway Ads: "Islam is Peace !!!" ?

by Dr. D ~ July 22nd, 2008

image  A number of different ads supporting Islam are being paid for by the Islamic Circle of North America who ironically is one of the organizations listed in the infamous 1991 Muslim Brotherhood memo which called for a "Grand Jihad" for:

"eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and sabotaging its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions."

Former Nation of Islam member Imam Siraj Wahhaj was chosen as the pitchman in a YouTube video for "The Subway Project."  He had been named as an unindicted co-conspirator in a plot to blow up city landmarks by federal officials in 1995, although he was never formally charged. He was quoted in the past as saying:

“if only Muslims were clever politically, they could take over the United States and replace its constitutional government with a caliphate.”

Many have called for the removal of the ads especially since they are going up in the middle of September, far too close to the 9/11/01 and the seven year anniversary. Muslim spokesmen say that they chose the dates to correspond to their month of Ramadan.

Despite all the criticism, the MTA (who received $48,000 for the ads), and NYC Mayor Bloomberg both contend that the ads are protected as free speech under the First Amendment.

Response: Sure sounds peaceful to me— as along as we all eventually become Muslims! I wonder how many Christian ads the Mayor and the MTA have accepted lately in the name of "free speech"—and when did "free speech" start demanding a $48,000 fee?  Just wondering!            *Top

    One point:

“On July 21st, 2008 When asked about the inclusion of Imam Siraj Wahhaj on the list of 170 unindicted co-conspirators Former US federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy said on CNNs situation room “I think the list is probably an interesting footnote to people. I get asked about it every couple of years when some story or another about Wahhaj comes up. I think the list is a tempest in a teapot.”

Tempest in a teapot means “a situation where people get very angry or worried about something that is not important” (According to idioms.Thefreedictionary.Com)”

The belief in promoting any religion within the full extent of what the legal framework is fine. And that includes reaching out to people and helping them learn more. There is no reason to be afraid.

Practicing Muslims want to establish religion in their personal lives, establishing religion in their Muslim communities. Do you have a problem with that? What does that have to do with effecting your rights? If you took time to learn more about Islam, and the truth about Imam Siraj (search NY Times on his work and ICNA) and Muslims you would be more at ease.

The ads sole purpose of educating average Americans of what Muslims believe.

“Sure sounds peaceful to me— as along as we all eventually become Muslims! Isn’t it interesting that they chose a ‘target’ to be their symbol of peace? ”

The above ad ‘Islam is peace’ is fake; that is not the ad ICNA is placing on the subways, it is incorrect; that is not the ad.
    That is not the ad.
The real ad concept can be viewed here:
