Update: Afghan Convert Case
by Dr. D ~ March 23rd, 2006
The Afghan Judge, in the case of the Christian convert, vows to ignore foreign pressure. Meanwhile, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has spoken directly and specifically to Afghan President Karzai and foreign minister about the case, and “..urged President Karzai’s government to seek a favorable resolution to this case the earliest possible moment.” Officials from Canada, Germany, & Italy (who have troops in Afghanistan) have also registered their concerns. Note: CAIR (The Council on American-Islamic Relations, Washington DC) claims that the Koran supports religious freedom and states that Islam should never to be compulsory, citing the Figh Council of North America (a committee of Islamic legal scholars).
