-Praying Thru the Psalms: #129

by Dr. D ~ January 7th, 2019

129 Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth, may Israel now say:

2 Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth: yet they have not prevailed against me.

3 The plowers plowed upon my back: they made long their furrows.

4 The Lord is righteous: he hath cut asunder the cords of the wicked.

5 Let them all be confounded and turned back that hate Zion.

6 Let them be as the grass upon the housetops, which withereth afore it groweth up:

7 Wherewith the mower filleth not his hand; nor he that bindeth sheaves his bosom.

8 Neither do they which go by say, The blessing of the Lord be upon you: we bless you in the name of the Lord.  (KJV)

Our Father,

We pray for the peace of Jerusalem and the nation of Israel. So many nations surrounding her are hoping for her fall and some are planning for her actual destruction and the complete ruination of her people.

Let all who hate Zion be put to shame and turned backward! Let their plans be frustrated. Meanwhile, let all of your prophesies concerning that nation and people be fulfilled. Prepare that nation and prepare her people to finally receive the truth about her Messiah, Jesus your Son.

Let revival sweep through the Jewish and Palestinian communities as never before. Let your Word be confirmed in their midst with signs and wonders, healings and  miracles. Let the blessing of the Lord be upon them and upon all those who support Israel.

Let America and her leaders be among those who always support the nation of Israel and the peace of Jerusalem.

In Jesus name, Amen.

-Praying Thru the Psalms: #128

by Dr. D ~ January 4th, 2019

128 Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways.

2 For thou shalt eat the labor of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.

3 Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.

4 Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord.

5 The Lord shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.

6 Yea, thou shalt see thy children’s children, and peace upon Israel.  (KJV)

Our Father,

We are truly thankful to you for the many blessings that you have given us and our nation. You have blessed us with prosperity in the past and have placed us among the leading nations of the world.

For hundreds of years our people have respected and honored you O Lord and your Word.  Now in this generation that is changing and those of us who are believers are concerned that all of the blessings and prosperity that we have received may begin to dry up and that the hedge you placed around our nation will no longer be there to protect our people; believers and scoffers alike.

We cry to you for revival in our land. We ask for your Spirit to hover over this nation once more and bring another spiritual awakening among this people while there is yet day. Our people and nation are divided against one another and our cities are increasingly becoming violent. Our only hope is in you.

We cry out that you would raise up your church in this nation and give the pastors and leaders a vision for action and inspire the churches to be unified as never before. Let your Kingdom come down in our midst, let you signs and wonders demonstrate the truth of your Word and let healings and miracles follow the teaching of your Gospel from one shore to the other.

Let peace be upon our land, the peace that only your Spirit can bring.

In Jesus name, Amen.

-Praying Thru the Psalms: #127

by Dr. D ~ January 3rd, 2019
A Psalm of Solomon

127 Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

3 Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.  (KJV)

Our Father,

We thank you for the anointed Christian leaders that you have chosen to lead us and the churches that you caused to be built up that are still faithful to your Word and your Son Jesus.

We also thank you for the younger generation that is coming on; the children that you have given us; for setting them apart and preparing them lead your people and church in the future. The children are not only our hope that you have given us for the future but also your blessing for us now.

When we look at our children and grandchildren we are concerned about what kind of country they will be inheriting from us. We cry for revival now to come to this nation and bring it back to your teaching and Word. Let the next generation in America receive from us a country that has come back to you and is even better than it was when we received it.

In Jesus name, Amen.

-Praying Thru the Psalms: #126

by Dr. D ~ January 2nd, 2019

126 When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.

2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them.

3 The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.

4 Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as the streams in the south.

5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.

6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.  (KJV)

Our Father,

You have done great things for America in the past. We are thankful and praise your name. Now we live in a time when many in our nation have rejected your Word and teachings. While so many others have no understanding or have never really read your teachings in the Bible at all.

The American church seems to have been lulled asleep while the dominant culture has turned away from your Son and gone into pursuing wicked causes in the name of civil rights. We cry to you; let the church wake up. Let your Kingdom come down in our midst, and let revival flow from one coast to another in this nation.

Let those who are called Christians rise up and shake off their slumber while there is yet day and move forth in your Spirit bringing signs and wonders, healings and miracles to our cities and neighborhoods.

Let the church move forward outside their safe buildings and engage the people where they work, shop, and play. Let the Gospel of the Kingdom be sowed on main street and let there be shouts of joy as the prodigals come home and accept the abundant life in your Son Jesus and receive their blessings and inheritance both in this world and the world to come.

In Jesus name, Amen.

-Praying Thru the Psalms: #125

by Dr. D ~ December 31st, 2018

125 They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.

2 As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.

3 For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.

4 Do good, O Lord, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their hearts.

5 As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the Lord shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: but peace shall be upon Israel.  (KJV)

Our Father,

May peace be upon America. We cry unto you for our nation which is slipping away and turning aside from your teachings and your Word. You have surrounded us with your protection in the past and this country prospered and became one of the leading nations of the world. But now wickedness is rising up and that which is called good in your Word is now distained and what you have said is wicked has been approved by our culture and our judges.

Can your judgment be far from us?

We cry out for Revival and a new awakening instead. Let this people see and experience the healings and miracles of the Bible; let them become a reality in our midst. Let your Kingdom come down and let your Word be confirmed through signs and wonders.

Let your church come alive once more in America, let your will be done in this nation, and let this nation turn back to you and your Word while there is yet day.

In Jesus name, Amen.

-Praying Thru the Psalms: #124

by Dr. D ~ December 28th, 2018
A Psalm of David

124 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, now may Israel say;

2 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us:

3 Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:

4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:

5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

6 Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.

7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.  (KJV)

Our Father,

At the very beginning of our nation, if you had not been with us our history would have been far different. Let America now say—  if it had not been the Lord who was on our side when men rose up against us, we would have never become a leading nation. But you O Lord did bless this nation from the very beginning and by grace you sent revivals and several new awakenings our way even when we did not deserve it.

This nation has always been blessed with Christian intercessors which you rose up to pray for us through our difficult times. But now we live in a time when the believers are being discounted and vilified; A time when it is becoming illegal to display crosses and pray in public forums and on government property; a time when your very Words are being overturned by our judges and that which is named good in your scriptures is being characterized as evil and bigoted.

Even so we pray that you would remember America once more and send us a new awakening; Let revival renew our cities and people and bring us back from the darkness that we are slipping into before it is too late. Please O Lord, withhold your judgment for now and bring revival instead. Our only help can come from you alone. You made the heaven and the earth and blessed our nation in the past; let your Spirit hover over America once more.

In Jesus name, Amen.

-Praying Thru the Psalms: #123

by Dr. D ~ December 27th, 2018

123 Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.

2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us.

3 Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.

4 Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.  (KJV)

Our Father,

Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us: for the contempt that is now being cast upon us because we believe in your proclamations. Our nation is changing and those who believe in your Word and teaching are now called bigots and our stand for marriage between a man and a woman is called discriminatory and on the wrong side of history.

We cry to you for our nation; our judges and legal system have come against your Word and those who believe in you and your teaching. We cry to you that our nation might be turned back to you; that revival and a new awakening might come once more to our land so that your Word and people might be respected once more in America.

Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us: Let your Spirit hover over America once more and let your light shine in our cities and all across our nation while there is yet day.

In Jesus name, Amen.

-Praying Thru the Psalms: #122

by Dr. D ~ December 26th, 2018
A Psalm of David

122 I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.

2 Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem.

3 Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact together:

4 Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the Lord.

5 For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David.

6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

7 Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.

8 For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.

9 Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek thy good.  (KJV)

Our Father,

We pray for the peace of Jerusalem:

Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces. For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.

Lord we also pray for the destiny of our Jewish brothers that they may soon find the truth about Jesus and be grafted into your church. Let your Kingdom come down and be demonstrated in their midst and let every prophesy concerning Israel and Jerusalem be fulfilled before their eyes.

Let the great harvest commence and let revival sweep through that nation among the Jews, Muslims, and Christians. Let all come to know the truth about your Son Jesus and his coming Kingdom.

In Jesus name, Amen.

-Merry Christmas 2018

by Dr. D ~ December 24th, 2018

                                                                                          (Image via Wikipedia)

Merry Christmas to you and yours and may God truly bless you this Christmas.

The Real Christmas Story

When our children were growing up it was a family tradition to read about the ‘real’  Christmas story in the Bible on Christmas Eve.

You’ve probably seen a dozen or so ‘Christmas stories’ on TV in the last couple of weeks but the real Christmas story is found in Matthew (Matt. 1:18-2:18) and in Luke (Luke 1:26-56, 2:1-40). However, Isaiah should never be ignored:

Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14)

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

Matthew gives us the story largely from the perspective of Joseph, including the dreams that he had and his family genealogy. In this gospel the ‘Kingship’ of Jesus is the major topic. Starting with the Davidic Kingly genealogy through Joseph and the coming of the Magi (Wisemen) who are looking for the new king. Also King Herod’s reaction is in Matthew.

The events in Luke are given to us from Mary’s view. The angel Gabriel appears to Mary and announces the coming of the child. Mary’s genealogy is also given in Luke (Luke 3:23-38), she was also a descendant of David, but not in the ‘Kingly’ line. Chapter 2 begins with the Christmas story that everyone is familiar with:

1 In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2 This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 And all went to be registered, each to his own town. 4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. 6 And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

8 And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. 10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

However, nothing explains the real reason for the season better than John 3:16-17:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.  -KJV
