-Praying the Proverbs 2:16-22

by Dr. D ~ April 8th, 2021

16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;

17 Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.

18 For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.

19 None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

20 That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it. (KJV)

Our Father,

Thank you for helping us through your Holy Spirit to walk in your ways of righteousness;  that we might be upright in all of our relationships. Thanks for showing us that blessings and joy follow those who live by your teachings and Word.

You have counseled us to avoid adulterous relationships that would end up ruining our lives and families. Thank you for strengthening our relationships and marriages so that we are not tempted and for being faithful to show us a way out when we are.

You have counseled us to not be conformed to the thinking and culture of this world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds. May our thoughts always dwell upon those things which build up and strengthen our lives and bring us closer to you and your Son.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

-Praying the Proverbs 2:9-15

by Dr. D ~ April 7th, 2021

9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

14 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;

15 Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths: (KJV)

Our Father,

We thank you for your Word and teaching;  which gives us wisdom and knowledge in order to divide what is right, just, and fair from the ways of the evil one. Thanks for giving us your Holy Spirit to guide and protect us from the plans of of the devil and his followers.

You have shone us the straight paths to walk in and the pleasant places to dwell in; which bring us blessings in this life and the life to come. Let us rejoice only in your ways and let us live in your light and clearly see and reject the ways of darkness.

Let your Kingdom come in our midst and let you will be done in our lives.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

-Praying the Proverbs 2: 1-8

by Dr. D ~ April 6th, 2021

2 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

6 For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints. (KJV)

Our Father,

We call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding. Help us O Lord by your Holy Spirit to turn our hearts toward your teaching and wisdom. Help us O Lord to apply your understanding to our daily lives. You have promised to be a shield for us and to guard us from the evil one who wants to bring us harm and confusion.

Let your light guide our paths, your love guard our thinking and mouths, and your wisdom bring us joy in this life and in the life to come through faith in your Son Jesus. Let your love and wisdom transform us that we may not be conformed to the thinking of this world but be forever changed for the better; that we may be worthy to be called your sons and daughters and be part of your Kingdom for ever.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

-Praying the Proverbs: 1: 20-33

by Dr. D ~ April 5th, 2021

20 Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:

21 She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,

22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord:

30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil. (KJV)

Our Father,

We Thank you for forgiving us through the sacrifice of your Son Jesus. Before we came to him we did our own thing and disregarded your teaching.

Now we ask that you would guide our paths through your teaching and Word that we might live the abundant life here and be blessed in the life to come. Through your Holy Spirit you have made your thoughts and guidance known to us. Please correct us when we deviate from your Word and wisdom. We want to pay attention to your advise since our joy and future depend on it.

We thank you and praise your name for the promises that you have given to us; that we will live in safety and have your protection from the evil one and his minions. Thank you Lord and praise your name; for your wisdom and direction is greater than any on this earth in time and eternity.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

-Praying the Proverbs: 1:8-19

by Dr. D ~ April 2nd, 2021

8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

9 For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

10 My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

11 If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:

12 Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:

13 We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:

14 Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:

15 My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:

16 For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.

17 Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.

18 And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.

19 So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof. (KJV)

Our Father,

Lead us away from evil; show us the plans of the evil one and his minions that we may avoid temptation and trouble. When enticed, show us a way out and instill in us the way of righteousness. Let us follow the example of your Son Jesus. He is our righteousness and the truth, the way, and the life.

You have adopted us into your family through faith in your Son Jesus. Let your Word be the instruction that we live by replacing the imperfect training of our natural parents.  Show us the way of joy and abundant living that will continue to bless us in this life and the life to come.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

-Praying The Proverbs: 1: 1-7

by Dr. D ~ March 31st, 2021

1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;

2 To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;

3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;

4 To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.

5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

6 To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. (KJV)

Our Father,

We would like to gain greater wisdom and understanding, particularly of your Word that we might always do what is right and just and fair.

In the process we want to get closer to you and your son Jesus. We understand that you are the author and creator of everything we can know and experience –everything that is good and beneficial in this life and the life to come.

We would like to go beyond just head knowledge since your heart and love is the foundation of your Word by which everything was created. We understand that respect and fear and love for you and your Son are the beginnings of the wisdom and knowledge, love and joy which we seek in this life and the one to come.

By your Holy Spirit, we ask that you would guide us daily toward greater wisdom, love, and a closer relationship with you.

In Jesus Name, Amen

-Praying Thru the Psalms: #150

by Dr. D ~ January 6th, 2021

150 Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.

2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.

3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.

4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.

5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.

6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.  (KJV)

Our Father,

Praise your name Lord and the name of your Son Jesus. You deserve our praise and we do not praise you enough.

We praise your name daily. We praise you in our closets, we praise you in our churches, we praise you in the streets, we praise you in the stores, and everywhere we go.

We praise you through singing and through the piano and organ, through guitars and brass, strings and drums. We praise you for your mighty deeds and for your mercy and salvation through your Son Jesus. We lift up our voices in praise and in silent prayers.

Yet we do not praise you enough for all of the blessings that you have given us and this country. We call on all of our people in this nation under God to praise your name once more. We praise your name in times of abundance and in the midst of pestilence and sickness. We praise you name in good times and bad.

Let your name be praised, O Lord, from the west to the east and from the north to the south and back again. Praise your name in time and for all eternity. Praise your name Lord, praise your name.

In Jesus name, Amen.

-Praying Thru the Psalms: #149

by Dr. D ~ January 5th, 2021

149 Praise ye the Lord. Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.

2 Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.

3 Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.

4 For the Lord taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.

5 Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds.

6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand;

7 To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people;

8 To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron;

9 To execute upon them the judgment written: this honor have all his saints. Praise ye the Lord.  (KJV)

Our Father,
Let us sing to you a new song, a song of revival. Let America rejoice and praise your name again and again. Let our motto: “In God We Trust” become a reality in our land once more.

Let the church rise up O Lord from the ashes and the leaders teach once more from your Word. Let your teaching be confirmed in cities all across this land through signs and wonders, healings and miracles. Let it be hard not to believe in you once more in America.

Let your Spirit blow from the west to the east and let you light shine from the north to the south and back again. Bring forth a new awakening and great harvest in this generation from sea to shining sea.

In Jesus name, Amen.

-Praying Thru the Psalms: #148

by Dr. D ~ January 4th, 2021

148 Praise ye the Lord. Praise ye the Lord from the heavens: praise him in the heights.

2 Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts.

3 Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light.

4 Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens.

5 Let them praise the name of the Lord: for he commanded, and they were created.

6 He hath also established them for ever and ever: he hath made a decree which shall not pass.

7 Praise the Lord from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps:

8 Fire, and hail; snow, and vapors; stormy wind fulfilling his word:

9 Mountains, and all hills; fruitful trees, and all cedars:

10 Beasts, and all cattle; creeping things, and flying fowl:

11 Kings of the earth, and all people; princes, and all judges of the earth:

12 Both young men, and maidens; old men, and children:

13 Let them praise the name of the Lord: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven.

14 He also exalteth the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints; even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Praise ye the Lord.  (KJV)

Our Father,

We praise your name for all of creation and for your Son Jesus by whom we have the promise of salvation and eternal life through faith.

We also praise your name for all of the blessings you have given to our nation in the past and we cry unto you for revival and a new awakening among our people.

Let the church rise up from its slumber and let the truth of your teaching and Word,  which is now rejected by many in our land, be demonstrated through signs and wonders, healings and miracles, in our cities and neighborhoods.

Let our families be whole again and let your Spirit dwell in our homes once more. Let our people be unified once more and let the divisions and strife between the races cease. Let our whole nation become a people once more ‘under God’ and let everyone praise your name and give thanks to you for bringing revival rather than the judgment we deserve.

In Jesus name, Amen.
