-Praying the Prophets: Jeremiah 1

by Dr. D ~ October 11th, 2021

The Call of Jeremiah

4 Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
and before you were born I consecrated you;
I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

6 Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.” 7 But the Lord said to me,

“Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’;
for to all to whom I send you, you shall go,
and whatever I command you, you shall speak.
8 Do not be afraid of them,
for I am with you to deliver you,
declares the Lord.”

9 Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me,

“Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.
10 See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms,
to pluck up and to break down,
to destroy and to overthrow,
to build and to plant.” –ESV

Our Father,

You said in your Word to Jeremiah that before he was even formed in the womb he was called and identified as a prophet to the nations.

Yet today in America thousands of babies are being sacrificed and aborted before they have an opportunity to live and fulfill the callings and identities that you have assigned to them. So many in our nation are calling this good and a ‘right to choose’ but it is really evil and the blood of the innocent ones cry out to you for justice and judgment against our people and leaders who allow it to continue.

It is time for repentance, change, and revival; let your Church, leaders, and people stand up against this ancient evil while there is yet day. We continue to pray for mercy rather than judgment, for justice rather than punishment, for revival and a new awakening to the truth, for change in America.

Lord, when you call us to serve like you did Jeremiah, may we understand that you already know us better than we know ourselves and do not offer excuses but follow through with your calling. May you touch our mouths and tongue so that our very words might reflect yours and the teachings of your Son Jesus.

We pray for the Good News of your Kingdom to be preached in every nation, people, and tongue before that great day when you Son Jesus returns and every knee bows and every tongue confesses that Jesus Christ is Lord to Your glory Father.

In the name of your Son Jesus we pray.
