-Praying Thru Proverbs: 31: 1-9

by Dr. D ~ May 6th, 2019

31 The words of King Lemuel. An oracle that his mother taught him:

2 What are you doing, my son?[a] What are you doing, son of my womb?
What are you doing, son of my vows?
3 Do not give your strength to women,
your ways to those who destroy kings.
4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel,
it is not for kings to drink wine,
or for rulers to take strong drink,
5 lest they drink and forget what has been decreed
and pervert the rights of all the afflicted.
6 Give strong drink to the one who is perishing,
and wine to those in bitter distress;[b]
7 let them drink and forget their poverty
and remember their misery no more.
8 Open your mouth for the mute,
for the rights of all who are destitute.[c]
9 Open your mouth, judge righteously,
defend the rights of the poor and needy. –ESV

Our Father,

Counsel us in our relationships that we might always follow your teachings; let us bless those we are close to and treat others according to your Word, which has taught us to love everyone as ourselves and not mistreat anyone, even our enemies.

Let your Holy Spirit help us to be free from all addictions; let us treat strong drinks according to the wisdom that you have given us in your Word and let us listen to your counsel daily. Let not alcohol or drugs rule over us in the name of the evil one; deliver us from evil and strengthen us to avoid anything that would come between us and following your Son Jesus to the fullest.

Inspire us Father to speak, act, and defend the rights of all; let us be good examples of your Kingdom bringing help, justice, blessings, and healing  to all we come in contact daily. Let us demonstrate your love which you have so richly given us through our faith in your Son Jesus and by your Holy Spirit; which continues to enrich our lives every day. Praise your name Father, and thank for your abiding help and love.

In Jesus Name, Amen.
