-Praying Thru Proverbs: 13: 1-12

by Dr. D ~ March 15th, 2019

13 A wise son hears his father’s instruction,
but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.
2 From the fruit of his mouth a man eats what is good,
but the desire of the treacherous is for violence.
3 Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life;
he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
4 The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing,
while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.
5 The righteous hates falsehood,
but the wicked brings shame[a] and disgrace.
6 Righteousness guards him whose way is blameless,
but sin overthrows the wicked.
7 One pretends to be rich,[b] yet has nothing;
another pretends to be poor,[c] yet has great wealth.
8 The ransom of a man’s life is his wealth,
but a poor man hears no threat.
9 The light of the righteous rejoices,
but the lamp of the wicked will be put out.
10 By insolence comes nothing but strife,
but with those who take advice is wisdom.
11 Wealth gained hastily[d] will dwindle,
but whoever gathers little by little will increase it.
12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life. –ESV

Our Father,

We pray for help through your Holy Spirit to hear and follow through with your instructions and teaching. Through your Son Jesus your have adopted us into your family and we are thankful for the way you care for us.

We seek the way of righteousness that we may be blameless in your sight through faith in the sacrifice of your Son Jesus. Father, you only want what is best for us but the father of lies, the Devil, only wants the worst. By your Spirit and counsel let us always seek the truth and reject the lies of the enemy.

Thank you for your light and truth that brings us only joy and abundance in this life and the life to come. You have filled us with hope and that hope is fulfilled in all eternity through faith in your Son Jesus who is our tree of life. Thank you Father for sending your Son as a sacrifice for us and as a fulfillment for every hope and desire that we could ever have.

In Jesus Name, Amen.
