-Praying Psalm 119:161-168

by Request ~ November 12th, 2015

Sin and Shin

161 Princes persecute me without cause,
but my heart stands in awe of your words.
162 I rejoice at your word
like one who finds great spoil.
163 I hate and abhor falsehood,
but I love your law.
164 Seven times a day I praise you
for your righteous rules.
165 Great peace have those who love your law;
nothing can make them stumble.
166 I hope for your salvation, O Lord,
and I do your commandments.
167 My soul keeps your testimonies;
I love them exceedingly.
168 I keep your precepts and testimonies,
for all my ways are before you.  (ESV)

Psalm 119 is an acrostic poem of twenty-two stanzas, following the letters of the Hebrew alphabet; within a stanza, each verse begins with the same Hebrew letter

Our Father,

We have peace within us because of the promises of your Word; Our hope of salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord is confirmed in your teaching. We rejoice continually for the truth you have given to us.

But there are those who say that your Word and teaching causes discrimination and division and needs to be done away with or changed in this modern culture. There are also those around the world who persecute believers in your Word and Son Jesus.

Some have called the last decade a new age of martyrs. We cry to you for all those going through persecution and harm for their faith in your Word and Son.  Turn these times around and let there be a great harvest among the very ones who are persecuting your people.  Let revival come and enliven your Word through signs and wonder, miracles and healing among every nation, people, and tongue.

In Jesus name, Amen.
