In is new book- The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution- Richard Dawkins now claims that evolution is not a theory but a scientific fact:

“This book is my personal summary of the evidence that the ‘theory’ of evolution is actually a fact – as incontrovertible a fact as any in science.”

Further, he now says that he will not debate a creationist or any supporter of Intelligent Design.

In celebration of the 200 birthday of Charles Darwin, the Church of England plans to issue an apology for their initial reactions to his theories:

"200 years from your birth, the Church of England owes you an apology for misunderstanding you and, by getting our first reaction wrong, encouraging others to misunderstand you still. We try to practise the old virtues of ‘faith seeking understanding’ and hope that makes some amends."

Response: Some of the stuff coming from the Church of England and the Anglicans lately is truly amazing. At some point in the future I fully expect some Archbishop of Canterbury to proclaim the end of the church and suggest that everyone choose up sides and become either atheist or Muslim.

I like Dr. Albert Mohler’s response to this news:

"Apologize to Charles Darwin? The Church of England may well need to apologize, but not to Charles Darwin. If anything, the church needs to apologize for its rightful embarrassment in considering an apology to Darwin."

Lock all the doors of the Churches, turn off the lights in all the Synagogues, there was no creator after all. Scientists have found the missing link in Canada–and it was a fish? According to Per Ahlberg, evolutionary biologist: “This is what our ancestors looked like when they began to leave the water.”

A Monkey or Ape was one thing-but a fish? They say that people of faith take ‘leaps’ but that is nothing compared to the huge jumps of logic & real ‘faith’ that is necessary to swallow this one. I wonder if it would make a good ‘tuna’ fish sandwich? Oh well!- maybe it could sing ”Oh Canada”? www.ocregister.com /April 6, 2006/science

Story Continued: See- New York Times article @ www.nytimes.com/2006/04/06/science/06fossil.html?

The NY Times writers really take this serious. I was just having fun above, but look at these quotes: “…,the fossils were a powerful rebuttal to religious creationists, who have long argued that the absence of such transitional creatures are a serious weakness in Darwin’s theory.” Or as one scientist was quoted-Dr. Novacek: “We’ve got Archaeopteryx, an early whale that lived on land, and now this animal (? I thought it was a fish!) showing the transition from fish to tetra pod. What more do we need from the fossil record to show that the creationists are flatly wrong?”

Comment: Creationists are wrong? This is definitely a ‘leap’ over the top. I think that ‘crawling catfish’ that ‘walks’ several miles from one lake to another is more impressive, and its alive! You can actually study how it all works! I wonder what it is transitioning into? I saw a bad horror movie once, where the fish were crawling on land and attacking people–”The Attack of the Killer Fish” or some darn thing–”Attack of the Killer Tomatoes” was more fun.

If you visit an auto assembly plant, can you really say-”Now I have seen how autos are created!” ?–No! You only viewed how the finished product was assembled. The creators are in a different building, marked-”Design & Engineering”. No one would ever expect to get a modern automobile by randomly throwing a bunch of parts together. The World & Universe is even more complicated, but many highly educated people believe that life was the product of some extraordinary numbers game-a fortunate set of random circumstances, and a few billion years. This is a greater ‘leap of faith’ for me, than believing in intelligent design & a Master Designer.
